Nano-needling, while generally a safe procedure, has several contraindications. It's not recommended for individuals with active skin infections, open wounds, or certain skin conditions like psoriasis, rosacea, or eczema. Pregnancy, recent Botox or fillers, and blood thinners are also contraindications. Additionally, those with a history of keloid scarring, diabetes, or undergoing cancer treatment should avoid nano-needling.

Dermaplaning, while generally safe, has several contraindications. It's crucial to avoid dermaplaning if you have active acne (especially pustules or cystic acne), open wounds or sores, sunburn, or if you are currently using Accutane or have used it in the past six months. Additionally, those with certain skin conditions like dermatitis, rosacea, or eczema, and those with a history of cold sores, should also avoid dermaplaning.
AFTERCARE ADVICE
Avoid wearing makeup on the day of treatment
Avoid products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, retinol, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc.) for 72 hours after treatment.
You may resume your regular skin care routine 24 hours after treatment.
Wash your face with a gentle, acid free cleanser and tepid water.
If irritation occurs after applying the above products, wait a few more days to allow your skin to heal.
Avoid sun exposure as much as possible for a minimum of 3 days post treatment. If you must be in the sun be careful of sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily for 2 weeks.
Avoid excessive heat 3 days post treatment, i.e. heavy workouts, steam rooms or saunas, etc.
Avoid chlorine for 24 hours.
Avoid facial waxing for 7 days.
Avoid Dermal Fillers or Botox for 2 weeks based on area.
Avoid picking, scratching, or aggressively rubbing the treated area.
Avoid physical exfoliators, polishers, or aggressive brushes should be used for 7 to 14 days.
Do apply serums as absorption levels will be elevated
You may experience slight peeling for the first few days. Slight windburn sensation and/or blotchiness are normal for the first few days. Skin care products may tingle or slightly burn for the first 2 days.
Will my hair grow back thicker?
One of the most common misconceptions about dermaplaning is that it will make the hair on your face grow back darker and thicker. Dermaplaning will not cause the vellus (peachy fuzz) to grow back thicker or darker.
